Hey you crazy kids who read comics.

I’m putting together a list of comic suggestion/recommendations. This list is to: 1) point out there is more to comics than “anime, superheroes, and Scott Pilgrim” (quoted from @NinaAnima’s observation on twitter). and 2) help you find comics for other people in your life!

Here are the categories I have:

  1. for science & math people
  2. classic literature comic adaptions
  3. history and/or politics (non-fiction)
  4. educational books for kids
  5. biographies of famous people
  6. personal autobiographies and memoirs
  7. historical fiction
  8. romance
  9. epic/high fantasy (think Game of Thrones)
  10. light fantasy (more Harry Potter)
  11. stories inspired from mythology & cultural lore
  12. science fiction
  13. horror/psychological
  14. adaptions of YA novels
  15. kids comics
  16. animal stories
  17. comedies
  18. for mature/adult audiences
  19. general fiction

Did I leave anything out??

I’m accepting print comics AND webcomics, so you can recommend either. Although I have so far filled the list with lots of comics already and barely started, I need some help! I don’t read all these categories myself (“horror” and “science fiction” are sadly pretty bare) and it would be nice to get other people’s favorites.

So if you tell me the comic & the number of the genre, I’ll look it up and add it. This is NOT intended to be a complete list, but only a starting point for people, so not every suggestion might make it in. If it gets repeated, then most definitely.

The more variety of styles the better! Thank you!!

If you’d rather e-mail or tweet me suggestions, that’s fine too.

Now what are you favorite comics?
